The Grapes of Wrath announced for The Gift Theatre's 2016 season

The Gift Theatre's artistic director and co-founder Michael Patrick Thornton proudly announced The Gift Theatre's 2016 season, which will include Frank Galati's acclaimed adaptation of John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath, directed by Erica Weiss.

"Great theater asks great questions. Our milestone anniversary season asks: What does it mean to be human?" Thornton said. "We originally opened our storefront with an American classic, and The Grapes of Wrath's classic call for decency in an age of dehumanizing wealth inequality is vital right now; experiencing this American epic in the intimacy of our theatre will stun you."

Goodman Theatre's Michael Maggio Directing Fellowship

The Goodman Theatre announces Erica Weiss as the recipient of the 2013/2014 Michael Maggio Directing Fellowship for Chicago-based directors. As a fellow, Weiss will assist on a Goodman production—from early research and design through the casting and rehearsal process to the opening—and become involved in the Goodman’s artistic team.

“We are excited to welcome Erica as a Michael Maggio Fellow, a very special and important role here at the Goodman” said Artistic Director Robert Falls. “In addition to his work as our most prolific director, Michael Maggio was a terrific mentor for talented emerging Chicago directors, and Erica has proven herself to be among the best of the next generation of great Chicago theater artists.”
